The saying “Everything in moderation” is incorrect. Heroin? Sugary drinks? No. The saying is actually, “In all things, moderation”. That means don’t meditate for three hours everyday. Don’t run until your knees are screaming. However, there are a lot of things that *shouldn’t* be done at all. That said, when you are present to the moment, a little goes a long way because you are present to the event or taste or feeling so it takes a lot less to fully experience it. When you are distracted, it requires a larger ‘dose’ because so much of just went by your awareness, not through it. Thank you for reminding me to be more present! So much distraction right now!

For me, Presence=Purpose. That purpose may include parenting, pursuit of a calling or career, creative acts (writing, art, music), or sharing our learning and experience with others. When we have purpose, we have presence.
